Oz Music Code opens it's first European office

As of November 2005, Oz Music Code LLC. will conduct all developer related activities from it's new office in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

According to Dr. Leigh Smith, co-founder and CTO for Oz Music Code, "Moving the developer relations office to Amsterdam makes great sense to us. We are much closer to our technical talent base here in Europe, yet we are still very much in touch with our main office in New York. This is really the perfect situation for us as we move into the next phase of our business".

Alphabet Soup V2.0.4 released

Alphabet Soup V2.0.4 is now served piping hot:

Fixed crash when playing through the JackOSX router.
Fixed bug when dragging a sound onto a key while it is already playing a sound never stopped the playing sound.
Enabled playing on audio devices using noninterleaved audio channels such as the Digidesign Mbox (tm).
Corrected bug that allowed dragging sounds if clicking on empty keys then dragging over occupied keys.
Corrected bug that prevented MIDI devices lacking output endpoints from appearing in MIDI play preferences.
Added version checking to inform users of the availablity of new versions.
Corrected crash on exit when connected to a MIDI interface.

Oz Music Code to take over distribution of Pocketfuel Libraries

As part of a strategic partnership deal, Oz Music Code will take over distribution of Pocketfuel’s popular RADS and Sound Gallery libraries.

RADS (Rhythmic Architectural Design Systems Volumes 1-4 and Sound Gallery Volumes 1 and 2 are now available at www.ozmusiccode.com/pocketfuel

These titles can be purchased direct from the Oz Music Code site for US$29.95 each including free shipping via US Post.

Oz Music Code will also be re-releasing the top-selling RADS Vol.5 Acoustic Rock Drums and RADS Vol. 6 Abstrakt Funk Vision in the coming months.

Due to overwhelming popularity, Oz Music Code will also be releasing new titles from the Pocketfuel Sound Gallery.

These files work well within Oz Music Code’s own sample player, Alphabet Soup as well as many other music software applications.

Upgrading from 1.X to 2.X

An issue can arise when upgrading from Alphabet Soup V1.0-V1.2 to V2.0.X. Due to the colour schemes changing between releases, old colour schemes can render the editing sound view in the key inspector invisible.

To fix this, remove (either before installing AlphabetSoup 2.0.2 or after) all AlphabetSoup colour files in ~/Library/Colors:

With the Finder open the folder Colors under Library in your home folder.

Drag all files with the name AlphabetSoup*.clr to the trash. For example AlphabetSoupPotato.clr.

Restart Alphabet Soup. New versions of the colour schemes will be created and saved. Sound views in the Key inspector should now display properly.

Note that using the standard colour browser in TextEdit, it is possible to create your own colour schemes for Alphabet Soup. More details on this in future Cooking Hints.

Alphabet Soup V2.0.2 released

The OZMC chef's are proud to announce a new Alphabet Soup. We've bumped up to a small patch release:

Corrected NSScanner nil string argument error displayed in the console when running on a machine with no MIDI devices.

Corrected bug when attempting to save a .soupp file after dragging sounds from another .soupp keyboard.

Added warning message for "Save As..." if attempting to save a file with dragged regions.

Made saving more robust when user pathologically chooses to save a .soup file with dragged regions.

Corrected bug causing license keys to not verify if they had trailing or leading spaces.

We've taken time from baking our new souffle de jour to cook up another Alphabet Soup web site.

This should make it easy for visitors to stay in touch with new version updates (free!), find out where the next live demonstration of Alphabet Soup will be held, receive notice of new products, and see pictures of the chef's & chefette's (!) responsible for cooking up Alphabet Soup, in action.
